Having trained hundreds of clients over the past eight years, I have now come to view myself as more of a coach than a trainer. Thinking about my role, I have realised that being your coach is a much more inclusive and empowering position for both of us.

"As a trainer I train you, as a coach we work together."

In the past, traditional personal training sessions tended to be broken down into three distinct areas: 30 minutes of cardiovascular fitness, 20 minutes of strength and conditioning and 10 minutes of core stability and stretching.

I don’t think this is necessarily always what is needed. I'll vary your sessions based upon what's right for you, while always keeping the bigger picture – your goal – very much in mind. We'll discuss what you’ve done during the week, how you feel and how your body is responding to our sessions. When we work together I will be coaching you both physically and mentally.

It's my ultimate aim to help you achieve balance in your training. I'll help you to grow your confidence around exercise and encourage you to change the way you think about your training. In this way, you develop your own long-term motivation to keep going once you achieve your goal.

Together we'll find the training styles that suit you best and that you enjoy. I'll coach you towards a lifestyle change, so that planning, exercise and good nutrition becomes a way of life rather than a chore.  This approach is far more about balance, understanding and growing than having a personal trainer to ‘train’ you three times a week.

During our sessions I'll use all my knowledge and experience to ensure you succeed. We’ll use a variety of methods such as interval training, circuits and boxing alongside equipment like kettlebells, free weights and the vibration plate. I'll also be using my NLP skills to ensure that you are mentally fit and my nutritional knowledge to make sure that your diet supports your goal.

From experience I know this inclusive way of training will give us the best chance of not only achieving your goal safely but, most importantly, of maintaining it.
